Uruapan Mayor Grecia Quiroz denies organized crime links

Grecia Quiroz García, the Mayor of Uruapan, Michoacán, has denied allegations of links to organized crime and political pacts. Speaking at a meeting with supporters of the Movimiento del Sombrero in Zamora, Quiroz asserted that investigations would find no evidence of criminal connections, stating, “digan lo que digan de mí, no me van a encontrar absolutamente nada.”

Quiroz emphasized that her primary commitments are to the citizenry and her children. She linked her political stance to personal tragedy following the murder of her husband, Carlos Manzo, on November 1, 2025. She expressed a desire to prevent other families from experiencing similar hardships, noting that her motivation is driven by the experiences her children have endured.

During her address, the Mayor also criticized political opponents and suggested that the growing strength of her movement is met with fear by the establishment. She maintained that her organization will not allow organized crime to interfere in its activities.
