Čurug opens new 5,000-square-meter sports and school complex

Maja Gojković, President of the Provincial Government, visited a newly completed sports and educational complex in Čurug, located within the Žabalj municipality. The facility, which was funded by the Provincial Government, took three years to construct and spans over 5,000 square meters.

The complex is designed for multi-purpose use, primarily serving students of the Đura Jakšić Primary School, as well as local sports clubs and recreational users. It features a modern sports hall, outdoor fields for small football and basketball, a running track for children, and six classrooms.

To alleviate pressure on the existing school building, officials expect a portion of the student body to begin attending classes in the new facility as early as the second semester. While the Provincial Government funded the construction, the Municipality of Žabalj is tasked with financing the equipment for the classrooms. Additionally, there is a proposal to establish a local branch of the Agricultural School from Futog to provide closer access to education for regional students.
