Uruguay and China strengthen ties through technology and cultural exchange
Uruguay and China continue to strengthen bilateral ties through technological, economic, and cultural exchange initiatives.
A Uruguayan representative recently participated in an international seminar organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China. The program, held in Beijing and Chongqing, included training in public policy, foreign trade, and development. Participants visited various facilities, including a pharmaceutical company specializing in cervical cancer treatments, electric vehicle manufacturing plants, humanoid robot development sites, and waste treatment facilities.
Simultaneously, the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC) has launched an intensive seminar in Fray Bentos focused on Chinese language, culture, and traditions. Supported by the Embassy of China in Uruguay and the Uruguayan Association for International Cooperation, the course aims to deepen cultural understanding among students and educators. This initiative builds on long-standing cooperation between UTEC and China, which dates back to the establishment of a mechatronics laboratory in 2013.
