Uruguay faces Green Islands in World Cup 2026 Group H match

Uruguay and the Green Islands meet for the first time in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, playing the second‑round Group H fixture in Miami at the Hard Rock stadium. The match, scheduled for midnight Central European Time, pits Uruguay – listed as favorites – against the newcomers who surprised many with a draw against Spain in their opening game.

Both teams announced their line‑ups. Uruguay’s squad includes goalkeeper Muslera and outfield players such as Varela, Caceres, Bentancur and Valverde. The Green Islands field goalkeeper Vozinha, defender Moreira and a midfield that features Arcanjo and Mendes. After Vozinha’s emotional post‑match interview about his mother’s inability to obtain a U.S. visa, the American State Department granted a visa to his mother, Ana Candida Evora, allowing her to travel to Miami to watch the game.

The match will be broadcast live on regional sports channels, with a text‑based live feed also offered online.
