Uruguay football match clearance causes road accident

During a Uruguayan Second Division football match at the Parque ANCAP stadium, a powerful clearance by Uruguay Montevideo defender Richard Núñez sent the ball flying over the stadium perimeter and onto the adjacent Ruta 1 highway.

The ball landed on the roadway, causing a driver to brake abruptly to avoid it. This maneuver led to a collision between two vehicles. While the incident caused a traffic jam lasting approximately 15 to 20 minutes, no injuries were reported.

The match between Uruguay Montevideo and Paysandú continued without interruption following the incident. Uruguay Montevideo ultimately won the game 1-0, with the sole goal scored by Lucas Rodríguez.
