Uruguay Government Signs Agreement with LDS Church to Digitize Civil Records

Uruguayan officials met with representatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints at the office of Minister Gonzalo Amondarain. Attendees included Romina Acevedo, director of Cults, Guillermo Valdevenitez, director of the Civil Registry, and David Casari, president of the San Luis Stake. The discussion focused on the church’s FamilySearch platform, which offers free digitization of deceased‑person records, and the government’s intent to sign a memorandum of understanding to make these digital records available to the province.
