Uruguay hosts national meetings for rural and livestock youth

The National Meeting of Rural Youth and the Livestock Sector Youth Meeting were recently held in Lavalleja, Uruguay. These events focused on topics such as sustainable livestock, agroecology, climate change, and family farming. The livestock sector meeting was organized by the Sustainable Livestock Strengthening Project in Uruguay, an initiative co-financed by the European Union through its Euroclima program.

In a related development regarding leadership in the agricultural sector, Nicolás Autino, a 26-year-old livestock producer from Nueva Helvecia, has assumed the vice presidency of the Cooperativas Agrarias Federadas (CAF). Autino, who has worked with the Sociedad de Fomento Rural de Colonia Suiza for a decade, highlighted the importance of cooperatives and rural societies in driving community infrastructure projects and representing producer interests to the government.
