Uruguay launches 30% tax credit for audiovisual productions

The Agencia del Cine y el Audiovisual del Uruguay (ACAU) has introduced ‘Tax Credit Uruguay Audiovisual’, a new financial incentive designed to attract both national and international film and television productions to the country.

The mechanism offers a tax credit of up to 30% on eligible expenses incurred within Uruguayan territory for audiovisual production and post-production activities. The initiative aims to strengthen the local ecosystem by generating employment for technicians, artists, and creators, while positioning Uruguay as a competitive global location for filming due to its stability and connectivity.

Currently, applications are open for two specific categories: production and post-production services for non-advertising content, and services for advertising content. Future calls are expected to include support for national television works and general national audiovisual productions.
