Uruguay promotes year-round tourism and luxury rentals

Uruguay is actively promoting year-round tourism to attract visitors, particularly from Argentina, by highlighting diverse regional offerings beyond the traditional summer season.

In Montevideo, the focus is on urban culture, including historic architecture, gastronomy, and a vibrant arts scene. Colonia offers a UNESCO World Heritage historical experience combined with boutique gastronomy and rural landscapes. In the Maldonado region, Punta del Este and surrounding areas like Garzón are being marketed for 'slow travel,' featuring art museums, nature, and wine tourism.

In the premium rental market of Punta del Este, Argentine travelers remain the primary high-end clientele. Demand is already rising for the upcoming summer season in exclusive areas such as José Ignacio, Manantiales, and La Barra. High-end monthly rentals for large properties in José Ignacio are currently ranging between US$ 35,000 and US$ 60,000, with top-tier options potentially exceeding US$ 100,000 per fortnight during the first half of January.
