Uruguay River Basin Committee advances regional integration

Representatives from Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay met in Montevideo to advance regional integration through the Uruguay River Basin Development Committee (CCRU). The delegation, which included officials from Monte Caseros, Colón, and Barra do Quaraí, participated in a planning workshop to define action plans for the 2027-2028 period.

Key discussions focused on developing trinational tourism circuits, improving border crossings for athletes and travelers during holidays, and enhancing port activities to boost regional logistics and commerce. The committee also worked toward nominating the Trinational Biological Corridor as a Transboundary Biosphere Reserve to UNESCO, aiming to strengthen the conservation of shared natural heritage.

Meetings were held with various Uruguayan ministries, including Tourism, Industry, and Foreign Affairs, to coordinate strategies for sustainable development and investment opportunities across the border regions.
