Uruguay tourism expands with focus on Canelones and spring events

Uruguay is seeing increased interest in its regional tourism offerings, particularly in the department of Canelones. Located adjacent to Montevideo, Canelones is being promoted as a destination that combines rural, coastal, and cultural identities. A delegation from the Brazilian Federation of Journalists and Tourism Communicators (Febtur) recently visited the area to evaluate its potential.

Key attractions in the region include enotourism at sites such as Bodega Familia Deicas, which features historic underground cellars. Other notable destinations include Montevideo, Punta del Este, and Colonia del Sacramento.

In October, the country experiences spring weather, with average highs around 20.7°C in Montevideo. Significant cultural events during this month include the Día del Patrimonio, which offers free access to museums and palaces, as well as the Book Fair in Montevideo and the Basque Pelota World Championship in Colonia.
