Uruguay weighs Arrascaeta's return for World Cup group match vs Spain

Flamengo midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta is training with the Uruguay national team but remains a doubt for the upcoming World Cup games because of a right‑calf injury sustained in pre‑tournament preparations. Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa said his inclusion will depend on the team's progress and whether the player is fit for the third group‑stage match against Spain, scheduled for 26 June. Arrascaeta did not feature in Uruguay's opening win over Saudi Arabia and is expected to be rested for the earlier fixture against Cape Verde in Miami.

The Uruguay federation’s medical staff continues to monitor his recovery, while Flamengo watches closely, concerned about the player's workload after recent shoulder surgery. If cleared, Arrascaeta could provide a creative spark for Uruguay in the decisive group match.
