Uruguayan cyclist found in Brazil after being missing since September
A 29-year-old Uruguayan cyclist, who had been missing since September 19, was located on Sunday, October 4, in Santa Isabel, state of São Paulo, Brazil.
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) reported that the man was found at a Pilgrim Support Point along a route during the ‘Operação Santáculo Nacional Aparecida 2026’. The cyclist was traveling with a friend but was not carrying a mobile phone, which had hindered communication with his family.
After being located, the man used a PRF telephone to contact his relatives and the Consulate General of Uruguay in São Paulo. The search efforts had been intensified following a request from the consulate. The PRF’s Human Rights team provided him with an identification bracelet containing consular contact information. The cyclist is expected to return to Uruguay shortly.
