Uruguayan Deputy supports citrus unemployment insurance with extension request
Nationalist Deputy Pablo Constenla supported an Executive Branch bill in an extraordinary session of the Chamber of Deputies to establish a special unemployment insurance regime for citrus workers. While backing the initiative to prevent delays in benefits, Constenla criticized the government for limiting coverage to 90 days per worker.
He demanded an additional 90-day extension to provide better protection for families in Salto and the northern coast. Constenla also raised concerns regarding previous implementation delays that prevented workers from receiving payments in a timely manner and requested that officials from the Ministries of Labor and Social Security and Economy and Finance explain the current coverage limits.
