Uruguayan educational authorities implement diagnostic evaluations to improve learning
Educational authorities in Uruguay are implementing diagnostic evaluations and strategic planning to improve student learning outcomes in Language and Mathematics.
In the Capital municipality, the Municipal Education System (SEM) conducted the Municipal Evaluation Operation (OME) during September. This diagnostic tool targeted 3rd and 6th-grade primary students to gather qualitative and quantitative data on teaching and learning processes. The results serve as strategic input for educational planning and decision-making to strengthen school trajectories.
In Artigas, school directors met at School No. 1 to analyze annual evaluation results and discuss strategies to strengthen mathematics instruction. This initiative is part of a National Mathematics Plan, which currently focuses on natural numbering. Inspector Iracely Bandera noted that improving results in Language and Mathematics is a national priority, aiming to elevate student achievement levels. These efforts in Artigas are expected to be replicated in Bella Unión.
