Uruguayan educators campaign for CODICEN teacher representative elections

Candidates are campaigning for the upcoming elections of teacher representatives to the Central Directing Council (CODICEN) of the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP) in Uruguay, scheduled for October 3.

Limber Santos, representing List 22 and the DEMA space (Defense of Public Education) linked to the CSEU, is touring Lavalleja. His platform emphasizes strengthening the representation of teachers from the interior of the country, particularly in rural areas, to ensure their specific infrastructure and labor challenges are addressed in educational policy decisions. His list includes educators from various subsystems, including primary, secondary, technical-professional, and teacher training.

Meanwhile, List 1, led by Víctor Pizzichilo and including Liliana Pereira, is campaigning on a platform of quality education and professional recognition. Their proposals focus on creating spaces for institutional coordination, providing emotional support for staff, and increasing the availability of resources such as teacher lounges and professional accompaniment. The group aims to promote a management style based on proximity and empathy across all educational subsystems.
