Uruguayan football players see market value decline
The market value of top Uruguayan football players has declined this season, driven by poor international club campaigns and a weak performance by the national team.
One notable example is Kevin Amaro. Previously, Liverpool FC (Uruguay) attempted to negotiate a transfer for the 22-year-old player to River Plate of Argentina for approximately ten million dollars for 70% of his sporting rights. However, those negotiations failed. Amaro has since been sold to the Belgian club Genk for a figure in the range of four million dollars for 80% of his rights. Amaro, who has been called up to the Uruguayan national team by Marcelo Bielsa, saw his peak valuation in November 2025.
