Uruguayan regional leaders discuss major investments and local projects

In Uruguay, local political leaders are addressing significant regional development projects. The National Congress of Ediles has approved a declaration supporting the installation of a green hydrogen plant by HIF Global in Paysandú. The project, valued at over $5 billion, is described as a strategic opportunity for the western region, promising infrastructure development and hundreds of jobs. The Frente Amplio party abstained from the vote, noting that the government is still in negotiations with the company.

In Durazno, the Frente Amplio has proposed a participatory process regarding the future of the former Molino Caorsi following its acquisition. Claudio González, president of the Durazno Departmental Board, suggested using the Intendencia website to allow citizens and professionals to submit concrete proposals for the site's use, aiming to ensure a social and responsible vision for the project.
