Urus Oncology seminar focuses on personalized urological cancer treatment

The second edition of the ‘Urus Oncology’ seminar-workshop was held in Santo Domingo, bringing together international leaders and national professionals to discuss advancements in managing urological cancers. The event focused on the necessity of personalized treatment strategies, emphasizing that therapeutic approaches must be tailored to individual patient characteristics and tumor profiles rather than relying on universal protocols.

Discussions centered on precision diagnostics, including the use of genomics, biomarkers, and artificial intelligence in imaging. In prostate cancer management, experts highlighted that traditional indicators like PSA should be supplemented with prostate health indices, risk calculators, and magnetic resonance imaging to improve decision-making.

Dominican specialists from RADONIC, including Dr. Lourdes Marmolejos, Dr. Jazmín García, and Dr. Pablo Andrada, contributed to the scientific program. Their presentations covered topics such as managing disease recurrence, multidisciplinary clinical decision-making, and the application of high-precision technologies like SBRT and salvage radiotherapy for genitourinary tumors.
