Governador Valadares Chamber approves pedophilia prevention policy

The Municipal Chamber of Governador Valadares held its fourth ordinary meeting of September, focusing on legislative votes and the analysis of executive vetoes.

Legislators approved Project of Law No. 29/2026, which establishes a Municipal Policy for the Prevention and Combat of Pedophilia. The debate emphasized the necessity of educational actions to help children and adolescents identify abuse and seek protection.

The plenary also voted on several vetoes. The veto regarding a proposal to prohibit fines for water meter seal violations was overturned. Additionally, the veto against a project ensuring oral health protection for patients in both SUS and private hospital networks was also overturned. However, the plenary maintained a veto on the ‘Sentinela – Alerta de Desaparecidos’ project, which aimed to use SMS to broadcast information about missing children, adolescents, and the elderly.
