U.S. activist groups fail to mobilize large-scale summer protests

Despite calls for nationwide actions against federal facilities, ICE, and U.S. military bases by groups such as the National Network on Cuba and the Black Alliance for Peace, large-scale riots failed to materialize over the summer.

Various activist networks, including the Neville Roy Singham network and the group ANTIFA, appear to have lost the mobilization momentum seen in previous years. This lack of activity follows a crackdown on NGOs by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and the designation of ANTIFA as a domestic terrorist organization by the Trump administration in September 2025.

Within the Democratic Party, leaders such as Congressman Jerry Nadler and Governor Gavin Newsom have been noted for their stances regarding far-left groups like the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), with Newsom expressing a desire for a ‘big tent party’ that includes such elements.
