US administration deports thousands to third countries
The Trump administration has deported more than 25,000 individuals to countries that are not their nations of origin. One such case involves Nika, a 32-year-old Iranian woman who fled her country to escape political repression.
After being granted legal protections and released from a US immigration detention center by a judge, Nika was rearrested by the Department of Homeland Security within two weeks. She was subsequently deported to the Central African Republic, a destination she was not informed of until she was on the flight. The US Department of State currently advises citizens against traveling to the Central African Republic due to safety concerns.
Nika remains in the country, fearing potential repatriation to Iran, where she could face life-threatening consequences from the regime.
