U.S. agencies bolster food safety as Trump projects high GDP growth

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have signed an updated Memorandum of Understanding to enhance consumer protections. The agreement aims to strengthen the National Residue Program, which monitors meat, poultry, and egg products for heavy metals and other contaminants.

Separately, President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. economy could achieve GDP growth rates as high as 20%, a level not seen in the modern era outside of the post-COVID-19 rebound in 2020. Trump argued that such rapid growth should not necessitate interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve, asserting that economic success does not inherently cause inflation.
