US Agriculture Secretary accuses Canada of unfair dairy tariffs

US Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins has accused Canada of imposing tariffs as high as 300 per cent on certain American dairy products. Rollins stated that Washington will continue to press for fair market access for US farmers amid rising trade tensions between the two nations.

Rollins noted that President Donald Trump has expressed concerns regarding Canada’s treatment of American dairy producers, suggesting that existing trade arrangements have failed to deliver intended market access. The Secretary acknowledged that the dispute has created significant uncertainty for farmers and ranchers across rural America.

While Rollins declined to provide specific details on ongoing negotiations, she indicated that US Trade Representative Jason Greer is currently involved in talks. The administration maintains that agriculture remains a central component of its trade strategy, including within the framework of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
