U.S. Air Force Academy dedicates Rokke Drive to former Dean
The U.S. Air Force Academy held a ceremony on July 24 to dedicate Rokke Drive in honor of retired Lt. Gen. Ervin J. Rokke. A 1962 graduate, Rokke was the first Academy alumnus to serve as the Dean of the Faculty, a position he held from 1983 to 1986.
During his more than 30 years of service, Rokke was recognized for championing academic excellence and character development, particularly in preparing officers for the challenges of the Cold War. Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Tony Bauernfeind described him as a scholar and leader who focused on institutional improvement and building leaders of character.
The dedication ceremony was attended by family members, including his wife Pam Rokke, faculty, alumni, and community guests. Retired Lt. Gen. Christopher Miller delivered the keynote address, highlighting Rokke’s commitment to mentoring young people and his dedication to the Air Force and the nation.
