U.S. Air Force members face charges and sentencing for child pornography offenses

Two separate legal actions involving members of the U.S. Air Force regarding child pornography have been reported.

In Prince George’s County, Richard F. Gayson, a 34-year-old Air Force major, has been indicted on 128 counts of possession of child pornography. The investigation began following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding illegal content uploaded to a cloud storage platform. Investigators linked the uploads to a Verizon account belonging to Gayson and subsequently seized multiple electronic devices from his residence, which reportedly contained files depicting child pornography.

Separately, at Hurlburt Field, Florida, former Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) command chief Anthony Green was found guilty in a general court-martial. Green was convicted of offenses including indecent recording and possessing, viewing, and producing child pornography. He was sentenced to 10 years of confinement for producing child pornography, plus two years of confinement each for the other offenses, to run concurrently. His sentence also includes a reduction in rank to E-1 and a dishonorable discharge.
