US air-quality reports flag widespread unhealthy pollution, Delaware and Maryland highlighted
The American Lung Association released its 27th annual State of the Air report, finding that more than 152 million Americans live in areas with unhealthy ozone or particle pollution.
Separately, the report highlights Delaware and Maryland: in Delaware, nearly half of children are breathing unhealthy levels of air pollution, with more than 200,000 Delaware children exposed on multiple days; Delaware counties continue to earn only passing grades for both ozone smog and particle pollution.
In Maryland, the assessment notes that nearly half of U.S. children are breathing unhealthy levels of air pollution, including over 570,457 Maryland children.
