US Ambassador condemns efforts to expand Ukraine conflict

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz has strongly condemned any efforts to expand the conflict in Ukraine, describing the potential spread of the war to other regions as dangerous and unacceptable. Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting, Waltz emphasized that President Donald Trump has called for the killing to stop, noting that the conflict is not about victory as all parties suffer losses.

Waltz also warned that violations of neighboring airspace, including NATO territory, increase the risk of conflict escalation. Concurrently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of retaliatory measures against Russian energy infrastructure if no agreements are reached to protect such facilities before winter.

Diplomatic efforts are ongoing, with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noting that both Ukraine and Russia have shown interest in a limited ceasefire regarding grain and energy. While Ukraine has expressed openness to Black Sea ceasefire proposals promoted by Egypt, India, and Turkey, Russia has not yet indicated a change in its stance regarding its military operations.
