US Ambassador condemns West Bank settler violence amid UN settlement disputes

The US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, has condemned settler actions in the West Bank, describing a recent blockade of Palestinian homes near Nablus as a “horrific act of terror” and “thuggish behavior.” The incident involved settlers cutting off food and essential supplies to residents, including a US citizen. Huckabee noted that the US requested military intervention, leading the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to deploy troops to the area, though settlers were permitted to remain at the site.

Separately, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, addressed the Security Council regarding tensions in the region. Danon asserted that Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria are permanent homes and “are not going anywhere,” despite international criticism of settlement expansion. He accused the Security Council of applying a double standard by using the collective term “settler violence” to describe Israeli actions while treating Palestinian attacks as individual incidents.
