US Ambassador Sergio Gor visits Manipur and Loktak Lake

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor conducted a two-day visit to Manipur, which included a boat ride on Loktak Lake in the Bishnupur district. The lake is notable for its floating islands, known locally as ‘phumdis’.

During his visit, Ambassador Gor met with Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla. The discussions focused on strengthening economic ties between the United States and India, as well as the importance of continued bilateral engagement. Gor also commented on the development of Northeast India and noted the personal relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.

Chief Minister Khemchand Singh invited the Ambassador to the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival, scheduled for November 21 to 30, 2026. The festival aims to promote the state's tourism, art, and culture under the theme ‘Destination Manipur’.
