US Ambassador Sergio Gor conducted a two-day visit to Manipur, highlighted by a boat ride on Loktak Lake in Bishnupur district. The lake is noted for its unique floating islands known as ‘phumdis’.

During his visit, Ambassador Gor met with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Yumlambam Khemchand Singh. Discussions focused on maintaining strong India-US ties and exploring ways to enhance economic cooperation. Gor remarked on the special relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.

Chief Minister Singh invited the Ambassador to the upcoming Sangai Festival, scheduled for November 21–30, 2026, which aims to promote the state's art, culture, and tourism under the theme ‘Destination Manipur’.
