US ambassador’s Hanoi visit and Ho Chi Minh City ceremony underscore deepening Vietnam‑US partnership

The newly appointed United States ambassador to Vietnam began her tenure in Hanoi with a traditional cup of Vietnamese coffee and a walk around Hoan Kiem Lake, gestures meant to signal goodwill and a fresh start in bilateral ties.

In Ho Chi Minh City, officials marked the 250th anniversary of U.S. Independence with a ceremony promoting friendship and cooperation. Nguyen Van Tho, vice‑chair of the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Association, and U.S. Consul General Melissa A. Brown highlighted the countries’ "Integral Strategic Partnership" and pledged ongoing collaboration in trade, education, health, security and cultural exchange.
