US and Saudi airstrikes kill four IRGC members in Iraq's Diyala
Joint airstrikes by the United States and Saudi Arabia in Iraq's eastern Diyala province killed four members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The militants were providing security for the Arbaeen pilgrimage, a major Shiite religious event.
Iranian news agency IRNA confirmed the deaths, while the Iraq-based Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) said the attacks also caused at least 20 fatalities and 32 injuries among pilgrims and civilians. The strikes mark an escalation in the regional confrontation involving the US, Saudi Arabia, Iran‑linked militias and the Iraqi government, raising expectations of possible Iranian retaliation against Gulf states.
