US and UK Allocate $85 B for New Nuclear Submarine Fleets

In the United Kingdom, the government committed £8.4 billion to the Dreadnought‑class programme, funding the construction, sea‑trials and entry‑into‑service of four new nuclear‑armed submarines that will replace the ageing Vanguard fleet. Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced the investment at BAE Systems’ Barrow facility, highlighting the creation of tens of thousands of jobs across the Defence Nuclear Enterprise.
