US and UK issue travel warnings amid rising Middle East tensions

The U.S. State Department released a worldwide travel advisory because of escalating tensions in the Middle East, citing heightened risk of attacks, flight cancellations and airspace closures linked to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, and the broader Israel‑U.S. confrontation. The advisory references existing Level 3 and Level 4 warnings for Iran and Iraq.

The U.K. Foreign Office simultaneously updated its guidance for British nationals traveling to 13 Middle Eastern countries – Turkey, Jordan, Kuwait, Yemen, Iraq, Oman, Israel, Cyprus, Bahrain, Qatar, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Palestine – warning of possible attacks, unpredictable escalation, and disruptions to air travel. Recent incidents mentioned include U.S. strikes on Iran, Iranian missile attacks on Jordan and alerts in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Both advisories urge travelers to be prepared for sudden changes in flight schedules and possible closures of airspace.
