US approves $101 million aircraft support package for Greece
The United States Department of State has approved a potential $101 million Foreign Military Sales (FMS) agreement to support the Hellenic Air Force. Rather than purchasing new aircraft, the package focuses on enhancing the operational availability and maintenance of Greece's existing fleet.
The agreement includes the procurement of assemblies, structural parts, accessories, and consumables, alongside comprehensive repair and return support services. Technical support will be provided through engineering subscriptions and logistics services from both US government and private contractors.
Key aircraft covered under this program include F-16 fighter jets (across Block 30, Block 50, and Viper versions), C-130 and C-27J tactical transport aircraft, and various training platforms. The US State Department noted that this sale supports US foreign policy and national security goals by strengthening the capabilities of a NATO ally and promoting stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
