US approves Anthropic's Mythos 5 AI model for select critical‑infrastructure organizations

The United States government has given Anthropic permission to restore access to its most powerful AI model, Mythos 5, for a limited set of American organizations that operate and defend critical infrastructure. The decision reverses an earlier directive issued at the start of the month by the Trump administration, which had barred foreign nationals, including Anthropic employees, from using the company's Mythos 5 and Fable 5 models on national‑security grounds.

Anthropic said the clearance follows close collaboration with U.S. officials since June 12 and that it will quickly redeploy Mythos 5 while working to expand access and eventually make the Fable 5 model available for general use again. European officials, including France’s delegate minister for Europe Benjamin Haddad, expressed concern over the initial ban and called for greater European investment in home‑grown technologies.
