U.S. Army Expands Jungle Tab to All Soldiers

A memorandum dated July 22 and signed by Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Jules W. Hurst III authorizes the Jungle Tab as a permanent, Army‑wide skill badge. The approval makes the tab wearable by any soldier regardless of assignment, joining the Ranger, Sapper and President’s Hundred tabs.

The policy is retroactive to all graduates of the Jungle Operations Training Center in Panama (1990‑1999) and the later courses in Hawaii. Service members must submit a Personnel Action Request in IPPS‑A with proof of completion, and the new guidance will be incorporated into Army Regulations 670‑1 and 600‑8‑22.
