U.S. Army platforms for drone acquisition joined by eight nations
At the annual Association of the United States Army (AUSA) meeting in Washington, D.C., eight nations—Albania, Canada, Croatia, Egypt, Japan, Kuwait, Morocco, and Panama—signed agreements to join two U.S. Army platforms for the acquisition of drones and anti-drone systems.
These platforms aim to modernize the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process by adopting an e-commerce-style model. By utilizing a ‘FMS Fast Lane,’ the system allows for the acquisition of pre-authorized, standardized systems through pre-established contracts, potentially reducing procurement timelines from months to days. Acting Army Secretary Adam Telle described the move as a milestone to align military acquisition with the pace of the business world.
In a related development at the same exposition, the Greek firm SAS Technology showcased its defense technologies, including the AIHMI and SpEARHEAD systems, focusing on unmanned systems and integrated operational ecosystems.
