American Rheinmetall has delivered the first of eight Lynx XM30 combat vehicle prototypes to the US Army. This delivery marks a critical phase in the competition to replace the aging M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle fleet. The program, valued at an estimated $45 billion for approximately 4,000 vehicles, is currently a contest between American Rheinmetall and General Dynamics Land Systems.

The Lynx XM30 prototype features a hybrid-electric powertrain, a 50mm turret, and a modular open architecture designed to allow rapid technological updates. The current Engineering and Manufacturing Development contract is valued at approximately $764 million. The remaining seven prototypes are expected to be delivered later this year for operational testing and soldier training.
