U.S. Army SETAF-AF announces drone technology partnership and voter assistance
The U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) has launched two distinct initiatives in its region. First, the command partnered with the Army’s Global Tactical Edge Acquisition Directorate to accelerate the deployment of counter-drone technology. This partnership aims to test emerging unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in Morocco by spring 2027, utilizing Africa’s diverse terrain and uncongested airspace to validate force protection solutions for soldiers within 180 days.
Additionally, SETAF-AF conducted a voter assistance stand-down in Vicenza, Italy. Following a directive from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, the event provided service members with resources through the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP). Personnel assisted soldiers with voter registration and provided information on requesting and returning absentee ballots to ensure military members stationed overseas can participate in elections.
