U.S. Army tests Spike NLOS missiles from light tactical vehicles

U.S. Army infantry soldiers successfully completed a three-day live-fire demonstration at Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah, testing the Spike Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) missile system mounted on the Infantry Squad Vehicle–Utility (ISV-U).

The demonstration included 17 precision engagements against simulated operational targets at various combat ranges. This marks the first time the Spike NLOS has been fired from the ISV-U platform. With a ground-launch range of approximately 30 km (19 miles), the system offers significantly greater reach than standard shoulder-fired Javelin missiles.

The testing supports the Army’s Mobile-Long-Range Precision-Strike Missile (M-LRPSM) requirement, which aims to provide Mobile Brigade Combat Teams with the ability to strike high-value targets beyond the operator’s direct line of sight. Lockheed Martin stated that the data and soldier feedback gathered will help shape final requirements and accelerate the fielding of this capability. Further validation testing is planned over the next year before the system moves toward initial operational production.
