US investigates deadly airstrike on Iranian wedding in Kuhestak
The United States is investigating a deadly airstrike that hit a wedding celebration in the Iranian town of Kuhestak, located in the Hormozgan province. The incident, which occurred on a Tuesday night, resulted in at least five deaths, including a four-year-old child and a 22-year-old woman, and left approximately 70 people injured.
While the U.S. military has not officially claimed responsibility, CENTCOM confirmed it was conducting operations in the region targeting military objectives such as communication towers and radar systems. Independent weapons experts, analyzing verified footage, concluded that the destruction was likely caused by a direct hit from American munitions, such as a 500-pound bomb or a precision-guided glide bomb, rather than a ricochet from an Iranian air defense missile.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance expressed skepticism regarding the Iranian government's narrative but confirmed that an investigation is underway, stating, “Sometimes, things happen,” and noting that the U.S. military learns from mistakes. In response, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the strike as a “war crime,” and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vowed retaliation for the deaths.
