U.S. authorities dismantle Chinese cyber espionage network
U.S. authorities have dismantled an extensive cyber espionage infrastructure that has been active since at least 2018. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the operation targeted sensitive government networks and critical infrastructure in the United States and other countries.
Key targets identified include NASA, the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Senate, the Department of Energy, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the National Institutes of Health. Additionally, four companies based in the U.S. and South Korea were reportedly affected.
The operation is linked to the China-based Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company. U.S. officials allege that the company's clients included the Chinese Ministry of State Security and the People's Liberation Army. As part of the crackdown, authorities seized domains associated with two hacking platforms used in the campaign: QScan and QTRouter.
