US conducts 11th night of airstrikes on Iran

U.S. Central Command announced that U.S. forces completed a new wave of airstrikes on Iran, marking the 11th consecutive night of attacks. The strikes targeted Iranian military command centers, naval capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone‑storage sites, missile‑launch facilities, air‑defence systems and logistical infrastructure. The stated objective is to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, Iran activated its air‑defence systems over Tehran for the first time since the recent escalation, and residents reported explosions in the city’s northeast as well as in Bushehr, Chabahar, Konarak and other provinces. Iranian state media said the attacks also hit sites in the south‑west nuclear plant region and other strategic locations.

Iran has claimed more than 30 attacks on commercial vessels in the past three months, endangering hundreds of mariners, while U.S. officials say that about 900 merchant ships and 450 million barrels of oil have continued to pass through the strait since May. President Donald Trump has warned of further strikes, naming the “Pickaxe Mountain” area near the Natanz enrichment facility as a potential target.
