U.S. Border Patrol conducts commercial vehicle enforcement in Indio

U.S. Border Patrol agents at the Indio Station, in collaboration with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the U.S. Department of Transportation, conducted joint commercial vehicle enforcement operations at the Highway 86 checkpoint during August and September.

Authorities inspected at least 196 commercial drivers, resulting in 57 citations for violations related to vehicle equipment, hours-of-service logbooks, and English-language proficiency. Additionally, 27 drivers were placed out of service. The operations also identified two commercial drivers who violated the conditions of their temporary visitor visas through prohibited shipping activities; one was processed accordingly, while the other had their Border Crossing Card revoked and was processed for voluntary return.

The enforcement actions led to two arrests. A Haitian national was arrested following the revocation of Temporary Protected Status and transferred to ICE for further processing. Separately, a U.S. citizen truck driver was arrested on an active, extraditable Texas warrant for a parole violation and transferred to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office.
