U.S. Border Patrol Reports Zero Illegal Immigrant Releases for 14th Consecutive Month

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that in June the Border Patrol released no illegal immigrants at the southern border, marking a 14‑month streak of zero releases. 9,848 individuals were apprehended that month, a figure 94 % lower than the monthly average recorded under the previous administration.

CBP Commissioner Rodney S. Scott attributed the decline to strict enforcement under President Donald Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin. In June, the Secure America Act, signed by Trump, allocated $70 billion to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol through September 2029, including $22 billion for Border Patrol operations, of which roughly $13 billion is earmarked for immigration enforcement and $5 billion for security technology. The bill passed the House on June 9 with support from Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise, while Senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin condemned it as a disastrous funding boost for ICE and Border Patrol.
