U.S. Border Patrol rescues migrant stranded in California desert

U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued a 25-year-old Mexican migrant who had been stranded for two days in the Jacumba Mountains near the California-Mexico border. The individual, who had crossed into the United States, became lost in the rugged boulder fields of eastern San Diego County and exhausted his water supply.

Following a distress call, the El Centro Sector coordinated an urgent multi-agency search operation. Although the steep, rocky terrain limited aircraft access, agents used GPS coordinates to track the man to a location approximately 70 miles east of San Diego.

Upon locating the man seeking shade beneath a boulder, officials used ice to lower his body temperature and medical personnel evaluated him for health complications. While the man was safely extracted from the terrain, authorities did not disclose his subsequent destination or whether he would face immigration proceedings.
