U.S. Border Patrol rescues migrants from locked train car
Border Patrol agents in the Del Rio Sector recently rescued three migrants who had been locked inside a freight train car near Knippa, Texas. The individuals, who hold Mexican, Nicaraguan, and Honduran nationality, were discovered by a canine unit while inspecting a stationary autorack car. They were found concealed within the beds of pickup trucks inside the locked rail car and had no means of self-release.
This incident marks the second such rescue in recent weeks, following a similar event on August 30 where eight people were rescued from a locked automobile transport car on the same rail siding.
In a separate analysis of migration trends, federal records indicate that over 6,300 migrants crossing the southern border in recent years identified Staten Island, New York, as their destination. Data spanning from October 2018 to July 2025 shows a diverse range of origins, with migrants providing addresses from 66 different countries. Notably, Chinese nationals represented the largest single group among those heading to the borough, with 1,176 individuals providing Staten Island addresses.
