U.S. Border Patrol rescues three migrants from Texas freight train
U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued three migrants—citizens of Mexico, Nicaragua, and Honduras—who were trapped inside an automotive transport railcar near Knippa, Texas. The discovery occurred during a routine inspection of a freight train on a secondary track in the Del Rio Sector when a canine unit alerted officers to the specialized vehicle-hauling car.
The three individuals were found hiding in the beds of pickup trucks within the enclosed railcar. Following the rescue, they were transported to the Uvalde Border Patrol station for processing.
This incident marks the second time in less than two weeks that authorities have intercepted people locked inside similar railcars at this specific location. On August 30, eight other individuals were rescued from an identical railcar on the same stretch of track. Anthony “Scott” Good, chief patrol agent of the Del Rio Sector, warned of the extreme dangers associated with human smuggling via freight rail networks, noting that such attempts have historically resulted in tragedy.
