US Broadcasters to resume White House press pool coverage
Major US television networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox News, are set to resume their participation in the White House press pool. This follows a multi-day boycott by the networks after the Trump administration barred CNN, MSNBC, and Politico from the White House, citing accusations of biased reporting.
The boycott, which saw the networks suspend the shared television pool, was a protest against what they described as violations of First Amendment rights. During the suspension, the networks refused to provide substitute crews for presidential events, including a summit between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Under a tentative plan, the four participating networks will return to their rotating duties. However, the arrangement includes a provision where the group will decide whether to provide a substitute camera crew if the rotation falls to CNN, which remains excluded by the administration. The conflict persists, as the White House recently denied CNN access to the presidential aircraft for a trip to Tennessee.
